Fade to Black

by Daniel Edward St-Jean

beyond the sunsets
there is a horizon
beyond the sunsets
where darkness covers
everything in black velvet
like blurred windowpanes
that shadow my life
and forsake my soul
sending me throttling
to the abyss of
the doomed labyrinths
where love dissolves
and freedom suffocates
under the guise of faded dreams
where it is unsure
whether you will see the color
of the cerulean sky
for just one last time.
