Poetry: Galloping Stoically Toward Annihilation by Scott Thomas Outlar
Galloping Stoically Toward Annihilation
by Scott Thomas Outlar
now that the poison has passed
through the system
what scars are left
in the wake
a thousand ways to die
so pick yours
but not too soon
some cells are only meant
to protect the host
no matter the cost
of their own osmosis
but better to be born
a knight than a gnat
better to grasp at stars and miss
than to never reach at all
and better still to taste the moon
hung low in frozen autumn
